Growing up in the Detroit area of Michigan during the automobile boom of the 50’s and 60’s has been a major influence on how I approach my work today. The use of bright colors, bold shapes and a desired sense of perspective, all of which express an individuality or point view toward the subject matter. I am characterizing my work as “Emotive Expressionism” The linking and freedom of different styles, techniques and applications. The sum of which creates a visual dialogue between medium, form and context. My current work is a representation of the viticultural regions of Washington State as it relates to the agricultural beauty as well as the people who help in the process of making the wines we drink.

“You give a beautiful
combination of colors to your work, I feel like I’m looking at the
San Joaquin valley in California, where I lived for many years”
– Jorge Viachiz
